Pike Lake in Warsaw to be “swim at your own risk” this summer due to lifeguard shortage

Warsaw Parks and Recreation may again be experiencing a lifeguard shortage.

It was announced at the Board meeting Tuesday that they’ve had a lack of applicants for lifeguard jobs for the second season in a row.

Currently they have four lifeguards, which will likely provide staffing at Center Lake Wednesday through Sunday.

Parks officials say Pike Lake will not be guarded this year, and will instead be “swim at your own risk”.

Last year the lifeguard program had 7 guards on staff, but 14 are needed to run at full capacity.
