Police Find Marijuana In Vehicle Involved In Deadly Crash

We are learning new information about a deadly car crash that occurred on Friday evening in Elkhart County. 22-year old Alec Studabaker of Goshen, was driving an SUV south on CR 25 when he lost control of the vehicle. During the ensuing crash Studabaker's passenger, 21-year old Katherine McFarland of Goshen, was ejected from the vehicle. McFarland was later pronounced dead at IU Health Goshen Hospital. Studabaker was treated for minor injuries. According to our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth, during the crash investigation police found marijuana and a pipe inside the SUV. Police also discovered that Studabaker was never licensed to drive and did not have insurance on the vehicle. It is not known who the marijuana and pipe belonged to, and police are waiting on toxicology tests to determine if drugs were a factor in the crash.
