WARSAW — A 21-year-old Silver Lake man is facing a slew of charges after he led police on a high-speed chase along State Road 15 in Warsaw that ended in a crash near Fort Wayne Street.
The chase began near US 30 when a state trooper saw two white Chrysler 300s making several moving violations.
An attempt to pull over both led to a brief chase involving one of them that headed south on 15 and quickly reached speeds of nearly 100 mph.
Police then discontinued the chase, but minutes later they came up on a crash scene near Fort Wayne Street.
Police believe the suspect vehicle collided with a Ford pickup and a Cadillac SUV, both of which had been stopped in the southbound lanes.
A female passenger immediately surrendered, but the driver, David Rodriguez, tried to flee on foot and was quickly apprehended.
The female passenger was the only one injured in the crash. She was hospitalized in Warsaw.
Charges submitted against Rodriguez Jr. were:
• Resisting Law Enforcement with a vehicle (Level 6 Felony)
• Resisting Law Enforcement (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Reckless Driving with Injury (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Leaving the scene of a crash with injury (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Leaving the scene of a crash property damage (Class B Misdemeanor)
• Speed Contest (Class B Misdemeanor)
• Operating with no financial responsibility prior (Class C Misdemeanor)
