Rape, Sexual Battery Charges Given After Sunday Incident

A North Manchester man is facing one count of rape, a level 3 felony, and one count of sexual battery, a level 6 felony, following an incident Sunday morning.
Noah Emmanuel Akins, 24, First Street, North Manchester, went home with one of his friends after a night of drinking, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office. The victim told an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department  she was in bed asleep with her husband when she woke up to someone licking her inappropriately. When she realized it was not her husband, she began kicking Akins and yelling at him and telling him to leave, the affidavit states.
Akins told the officer he went into the victim’s bedroom to tell her that her son’s vehicle was parked at his residence. He said he grabbed the victim’s leg and shook it. He said he only touched her leg, but may have touched her somewhere else.
The victim said since the incident, Akins posted the following apology: “I ****** up, I am so sorry, between my divorce, liquor and what we used to have, I made a huge mistake, it will never happen again,” the affidavit states.
Akins was arrested Sunday morning and held in the Kosciusko County jail with a $30,000 surety bond.
