Claypool police initiated a pursuit of a vehicle Jan. 30 after the driver fled because he had a warrant out for his arrest in Fulton County.

Ben Sanders, Claypool town marshal, identified the driver Friday as Jered Yeazel, 35, Rochester.

Yeazel was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 30 on charges of possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless driving, driving while suspended with a prior suspension and on a foreign warrant out of Fulton County, according to the Kosciusko County Jail.

His bond for Kosciusko County was set at $5,250, but no bond for Fulton County and he was released to Fulton County.

This is the same guy who fled from Winona Lake in November and led law enforcement on a pursuit in Fulton County in December, Sanders said. In April 2018, police from multiple jurisdictions pursued Yeazel through Kosciusko, Marshall and Fulton counties until Yeazel drove into a field near the intersection of North CR 550E and Ind. 14, according to an April 2018 news release.

During the Jan. 30 22-mile pursuit, the vehicles hit speeds of 96 mph, Sanders said. At the intersection of CRs 500W and 700S, Sanders said Yeazel’s vehicle ran into the front end of his squad car, backed up and then got stuck in the ditch.

A probable cause affidavit was not available at the county courthouse as of closing time Friday.
