School bus involved in crash on S.R. 15 in Warsaw

Traffic was blocked to State Road 15 in Warsaw for a little over an hour Thursday when a car rear-ended a school bus. The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. and 15 did not re-open until nearly 5:30 p.m.

The Warsaw Community School Bus driver was stopped in traffic to make a turn onto Clearwater Drive when a south bound Dodge Neon rear-ended the bus.

25-year-old Michael Goble was driving the Dodge. He was air lifted from the scene to Lutheran Hospital after being extricated from the car. He died of injuries sustained in the crash.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department says the driver of the bus and all 32 students on board were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

Warsaw Community Schools has issued the following statement regarding the incident:

“On the afternoon of Thursday, Dec. 7, a Warsaw Community Schools bus delivering students home from Madison Elementary School was involved in an accident on SR 15. Multiple individuals and organizations immediately reacted to ensure the safety and security of the students on the bus.

A heartfelt thank you to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Warsaw Police Department, Indiana State Police, Warsaw Tennis and Fitness Club, Lutheran EMS, fire rescue, first responders, transportation staff, multiple educators as well as administration and support staff who rushed to the scene to comfort and medically evaluate the students. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the driver of the car involved in the accident.”
