After 26 traffic stops were made in school zones and at bus stops to begin the school year, things have been quieter.

Kosciusko County Sheriff Kyle Dukes says since the first day of school, there have only been three other instances of school zone violations in the county. He credits his department, along with other area law enforcement, for keeping a watchful eye on drivers during peak times of the school day.

Dukes says his deputies have also been driving behind school buses during their routes to watch for stop arm violations, but so far, drivers have been obeying the law and stopping for buses when they are picking up and dropping off students.
