South Bend Man Charged For 2 Murders, Including Former Warsaw Woman

A South Bend man was arrested Sunday for the murder of two people, including a former Warsaw woman. Roy Lee Walker, 49, South Bend, was charged with the murder of Robert Duke, South Bend, and Michelle Blankenship, formerly of Warsaw. He also faces one count of attempted murder and one count of residential entry, according to an affidavit. South Bend Police were dispatched to Walker’s apartment building at 7:11 p.m. Sunday due to an armed disturbance where Walker had entered Duke’s dwelling. Walker shot and killed Duke and Blankenship, the affidavit states, then forced his way into Stanley Shaw’s apartment. Walker proceeded to point the gun in Shaw’s face, but the gun did not fire and Walker left. He was later found walking down a driveway wearing a tan shirt, two pairs of jeans and only socks on his feet. His clothing was covered with brownish red stains and he had a rope tied around his neck, according to the affidavit. He was transported to a hospital.
