State Owned Mansion Under Renovations

Crews are working to replace the roof of a state-owned mansion in southern Indiana for the first time since it was built in the 1860s. Contractors have put up scaffolding that surrounds the 60-foot high walls of the Culbertson Mansion in New Albany for the roof-replacement project. Culbertson Mansion State Historical Site manager Jessica Stavros tells the News and Tribune that the protected status of the house means the crews aren't allowed to attach any equipment to it. Stavros says the work is expected to be finished by the end of summer and the mansion remains open to visitors.
