State Superintendent candidates Ritz, McCormick to debate in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE — The two candidates vying for Indiana Superintendent of Schools will debate at a Fort Wayne university this month.

Democrat State Superintendent Glenda Ritz and her Republican challenger, Jennifer McCormick, will debate education issues and policies in the Classic Ballroom of the Walb Student Union on the IPFW campus on October 17th at noon.

Ritz is pushing for an expansion of preschool to all Hoosiers, while McCormick is focusing on school funding issues and finding ways to increase the state’s broadband capacity for schools and students.

McCormick has been the top administrator of the Yorktown Community School District since 2010 after previously being an English teacher and elementary school principal.
