Sunday morning fire kills animals, barn total loss in Syracuse

Times-Union photo by Gary Nieter; A barn on CR 1200 N, west of CR 450 E, was totally destroyed by a fire Sunday morning. The barn was completely engulfed when firefighters arrived. Ffirefighters worked in heavy smoke in an attempt to control the burn. Turkey Creek Fire Territory was assisted at the scene by North Webster, Milford and Benton Township fire departments.

A Sunday morning barn fire resulted in the loss of more than 50 animals.

According to our partners at the Times-Union, Turkey Creek Fire Territory Chief Mickey Scott said a call came in at 8:18 a.m. Sunday to a barn fire at 4445 E. CR 1200N in Syracuse.

The barn is owned by Larry Rosenberry who had 50 to 60 chickens, chicks, ducks and turkeys inside, along with lawn mowers and some furniture, Scott said.

Scott said all of the animals inside of the barn died and the building was a total loss. There were no injuries and the fire was under control in 30 minutes.
