WARSAW — The newest mural in Kosciusko County was unveiled Tuesday at the convention and visitor’s bureau along US 30 in Warsaw.

The interactive artwork encompasses an entire interior wall inside the visitor’s center. 

The lakeshore scene is designed with selfies in mind and includes the clearly Kosciusko branding. An Adirondack chair from Pollywood will be positioned along the wall so that visitors can capture their images in front of a colorful lake scene.

Executive director Cori Humes was thrilled to have a large crowd packed inside the lobby of the Kosciusko County Convention & Visitors Bureau Visitor Center for a ribbon cutting with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce.

"We were trying to add more art to our community and something at the visitor center," Humes said. "Since we didn't have space outside, that's why it's inside."

"It's just another way to engage our visitors and residents in the county of why Kosciusko is a great place to be," Humes said.

Artists Erica Deuel and Beth Williman, of Spoonful of Imagination, were given the chance to do the project.

Williman said using a lakes theme was an obvious choice.

"I think that's what brings people to our community," William said. "I know that's what i love about our community or lakes. It's the beautiful part of living here."

The project was funded with an Art Activation grant through the state.

WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting a Popsicle Party and ribbon cutting to celebrate their new mural and allow people to meet the artists behind the work.

These events will take place on Aug. 8 at the Visitors Center in Warsaw with the ribbon cutting at 1:30 p.m. and the Popsicle Party from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

The mural artists, Erica Deuel and Beth Williman, from Spoonful of Imagination, will offer kids’ art activities and hand out popsicles while supplies last.

Visitors can admire the new mural and take pictures in front of it.

Last January, Indiana Destination Development Corporation launched the IN Indiana Public Art Activation Grant, the goal of which is to give local artists and communities the unique opportunities to create artwork and signage with the new IN Indiana brand incorporated into it.

KCCVB applied for and received the grant last spring and chose Erica Deuel and Beth Williman’s design for the mural.

This new mural is designed to represent the over 100 lakes in the county. It is also designed to be photogenic so visitors and residents alike will use it as a backdrop for their next social media post, helping promote the area further.

This piece of art will be added to the All Things Art Map and the Public Art Trail Challenge Passport, drawing more people to the Visitor Center.

“We are excited to provide the community with an event where they can explore the new mural and meet the artists behind the work. This piece of art will help show why the place to live, work, learn, and play is Clearly Kosciusko IN Indiana,” said Cori Humes, Executive Director of KCCVB.
