The blizzard warning is in effect for St. Joseph and Laporte counties, but meteorologist Matt Rudkin warns much of the northern part of Indiana will experience blizzard-like conditions beginning Thursday night with strong winds and temperatures falling to near zero.

Rudkin is predicting six to eight inches of snow is possible for the Warsaw area.

On top of that, areas closer to Lake Michigan will see significant lake-effect snow Friday and Saturday.

Travel is not encouraged Friday or Saturday north of US-6, Rudkin said.

He predicts travel conditions will improve on Saturday for areas south of US-6.

Meanwhile, operators of the Indiana Toll Road have announced an upcoming ban for certain oversized vehicles.

According to a report from WNDU, the ban is for triple tractor-trailers, doubles, and high-profile oversize permit loads.

The ban is in effect from Thursday from 5 p.m. and continues through Saturday night.

Passenger vehicles are not included in the ban.
