Crafton was initially being investigated by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Detectives and Nappanee Police officials for his alleged involvement in a burglary and theft two days ago.  A search of Crafton's residence gave officers evidence that he was involved with several thefts.

Crafton is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail, accused of the following charges:

  • Resisting/fleeing law enforcement
  • Reckless driving
  • Felony theft
  • Felony Burglary

Crafton is also believed to have stolen an ATV/4-wheeler from the state of Mississippi. Sheriff's deputies believe they may find additional stolen items at a storage building in North Webster near where the car case began.

A car chase began in North Webster and didn’t end until the suspect reached Whitley County.  Kosciusko County Sergeant Chad Hill tells News Now Warsaw their agency was pursuing a potentially stolen construction/cargo trailer that was being pulled by a Chevy Silverado pickup truck.

The pursuit ensued into Noble County, and eventually into Whitley. Sergeant Hill says stop sticks, a tire deflation device deployed by law enforcement, struck the suspect’s pickup and/or trailer tires twice.

The chase ended at State Road 205 and Whitley County Road 200 N. A suspect was taken into custody at that time.

(News Now Warsaw): A Kosciusko County man accused of two attacks last summer has agreed to a plea deal in the case.

25-year-old Alexander Jackson of Syracuse was scheduled to go on trial this summer facing eight felony counts, including attempted murder.

Jackson is accused of two incidents, the first of which involves him chasing his former brother-in-law Nathaniel Boyer in a pickup truck on State Road 13 last July. He allegedly fired a gun at the vehicle Boyer was in. Court documents say Jackson was then shot and injured by a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Deputy.

Under a plea agreement, the attempted murder charge was reduced to attempted aggravated battery, a level 3 felony. Jackson also agreed to plead guilty to four other felony counts, including battery on a law enforcement officer. The remaining three charges were dropped, according to the Times Union.

Because Jackson's father is Kosciusko County Commissioner Brad Jackson, the case will be handled by Elkhart County. Sentencing is set for June 30.
