WARSAW — The Magical Meadows is proud to announce that its Growing with Heart Capital Campaign has officially reached its fundraising goal thanks to a $500,000 anonymous donation.
This donation came just days after the Dr. Dane & Mary Louise Miller Foundation awarded an additional $50,000 toward the campaign, marking the successful completion of the organization's largest capital campaign in its history.
Since launching the campaign's silent phase just 18 months ago, The Magical Meadows has raised more than $2.6 million to fund a transformational expansion project that will allow the organization to serve more individuals and families than ever before.
The campaign was made possible through the generosity of nearly 300 individual donors, businesses, churches, and charitable foundations who united behind a shared vision of expanding access to equine-assisted services throughout northern Indiana.
Among those whose profound generosity helped make this milestone possible are K21 Health Foundation, Wildman, Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Dr. Dane & Mary Louise Miller Foundation, Windswell Foundation, North Webster Community Church, Zimmer Biomet Foundation, Cameron and Shannon Silveus, Scott and Cindy Silveus, Nick Deeter and Mary Wetzel, Dr. Gregory Haase and Melody Barker-Haase, Jeff and Kerry Coulter, the late Jean Northenor, and several prominent donors who wish to remain anonymous.
"This moment belongs to our entire community," said Michael Kuhn, Executive Director of The Magical Meadows. "To raise more than $2.6 million in just 18 months is remarkable, but what makes this achievement truly special isn't the number. It's the people behind it. Nearly 300 donors came together because they believe every person deserves the opportunity to experience hope and healing. This campaign has never been about buildings. It's about creating dignified spaces where children, adults, veterans, first responders, and families can find confidence, connection, and healing through the power of horses. We are incredibly grateful to every person who believed in this vision and made it a reality."
The Growing with Heart Capital Campaign has funded the construction of two new indoor facilities that will allow The Magical Meadows to expand programming and serve the community year-round.
The first building is now fully operational and has already become the new home for therapeutic horseback riding and equine-assisted learning programs. Every day, the arena is filled with children and adults with different abilities, along with at-risk youth, who are experiencing the life-changing benefits of equine-assisted services.
"For almost 20 years, I've dreamed about the day when our riders and their families could enjoy a year-round space like this,” said Tammy Stackhouse, Founder and Program Coordinator at The Magical Meadows. “To walk into the arena today and see my kiddos smiling, parents watching from the comfort of our lobby and observation room, volunteers serving with joy, and horses changing lives every single day is nothing short of amazing. Watching our riders thrive in a space that was once only a dream is one of the greatest blessings of my life."
Construction also continues on the organization's second indoor arena, a dedicated 24/7 facility designed specifically for veterans and first responders. The building has reached another significant milestone, with exterior framing complete, the roof installed, and siding currently being added. Once completed later this summer, the facility will provide a welcoming environment for peer support, recreation, and equine-assisted programming. More importantly, it will provide opportunities for healing, connection, and community.
While the successful completion of the capital campaign represents a historic achievement, organizational leaders emphasize that the work is far from finished.
“Although our capital campaign has reached its goal, our mission continues every day, and we are committed to keeping it going strong,” said Carl Adams, Chairman of the Board at The Magical Meadows. “The new facilities are almost complete, but it is the community’s continued generosity that keeps hope alive and transforms lives for years to come.”

WARSAW – Kosciusko County's sheriff and prosecutor, along with a crew of local first responders, are going head-to-head with The Magical Meadows team in a unique fundraising showdown.

On Aug. 7, Sheriff Jim Smith and Prosecutor Brad Voelz and other participants will rock in a chair at The Magical Meadows for 12 hours straight — or until they individually raise $10,000 in support of the organization’s Growing with Heart Capital Campaign.

Together, they have a combined goal of raising $100,000, according to a news release.

All funds raised will go toward building a dedicated riding arena for veterans and first-
responders — a space for healing, connection, and growth.

The building project aims to enhance and expand the Warriors Mount Up program, which is designed to help veterans and first responders work through the stressors and trauma they live with on a daily basis.

“We’re honored to have the support of Sheriff Jim Smith, Prosecutor Brad Voelz, and
other warriors in our community who believe in the life-changing mission here at The
Magical Meadows,” said Michael Kuhn, Executive Director.

“We look forward to seeing the transformational impact this fun and unique fundraiser has on the men and women who have served our country and communities so faithfully.”

Each participant will have their own fundraising page for people to donate to their
$10,000 goal. The public is also welcome to stop by in person during the Rockathon
event to drop off donations, encourage the participants, and observe riding lessons
happening in real-time at The Magical Meadows.

The new veterans/first-responders arena is one of two new buildings that will be
constructed this year as part of the non-profit’s Growing with Heart Capital Campaign.

The east arena will boast 14,000 square feet and will consist of a large dirt floor riding
arena, a lounge room, accessible restrooms, stalls for horses, a tack room, and storage
for veterinary supplies and materials.

The west arena will have the same dimensions as the east facility, but its focus will be
on serving individuals with disabilities and expanding the capacities of the non-profit’s
legacy therapeutic horseback riding programs. The west arena will also include a
spacious observation room for families and caregivers of the riders, accessible
restrooms, a tack room, and storage space.

The project will cost $2 million, with approximately $1.7 million allocated to construction
costs. The other $300,000 will help cover anticipated increases in operating expenses
like utilities, depreciation, insurance, and the addition of two new full-time staff members
for two years to help continue growth in programming.

The Magical Meadows expects to see significant increases in participant numbers
thanks to the expansion of available service space. The new facilities will also be fully
equipped to accommodate year-round programming.

Historically, therapeutic horseback riding at The Magical Meadows has only run from April through November each year.

The new arenas will both be insulated and fully heated so there will not be any
interruptions to services throughout the year except for holidays and cases of severe
weather.

Program numbers for individuals with disabilities are expected to grow from 120 to more
than 400 annually, while veteran/first-responder participation will likely grow from 50 to
250 annually.

In addition to the growth in individual participants, the organization anticipates this
project fostering new partnerships with schools, service providers, non-profits, and other
organizations to expand the types of services that will be offered on-site at The Magical
