WARSAW — Kosciusko County was particularly hard hit by a storm that swept through northern Indiana early Sunday night.

Strong winds and heavy rain battered the area, leaving an estimated 15,000 customers without power, according to PowerOutage.com.

As of 5:30 a.m., NIPSCO and Kosciusko REMC reported that about 900 customers were still without electricity. Fort Wayne also experienced significant outages, with over 8,000 customers affected.

Surrounding counties reported far fewer outages.

In total, approximately 5,000 customers across Indiana were without power, while 23,000 in Michigan were also affected.

The National Weather Service indicated that additional rain and storms are possible on Monday and tonight, and a flood watch remains in effect until 11 a.m.
