WARSAW — The Warsaw Community High School (WCHS) Student Council will host a Riley Movie Night on Friday, March 20, inviting families and community members to enjoy a movie while supporting a meaningful cause.

The event will take place in the WCHS Performing Arts Center, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the movie, Zootopia, beginning at 6 p.m.

Admission to the event is free, and donations are encouraged. All proceeds from the evening will go directly to Riley Children’s Hospital, helping support pediatric healthcare and services for children and families throughout Indiana.

The event is organized by the Warsaw Community High School Student Council as part of their ongoing efforts to give back to the community and support organizations that make a difference in the lives of children.

Families and community members are encouraged to attend, bring friends and enjoy a fun evening together while contributing to an important cause.

WARSAW — A two-day radiothon on WRSW 107.3 added to its 14-year legacy by raising $67,313.79 for Riley Children's Hospital.

Money collected goes to support families whose children are receiving services at the children's hospital in Indianapolis.

Before this year's effort, WRSW and Alderfer Bergen & Co., had collected more than $1.2 million over the years.

While many of the donations were small in size from local listeners, the campaign was also supported with strong corporate donations, including Explorer Van, Tecomet, the Dr. Dane & Mary Louise Miller Foundation, The Birch Family Foundation, and more.

WARSAW — Riley Radio Days wrapped up a two-day marathon Friday night and finished with more than $80,000 in contributions.

Sponsors, organizers, and those close to Riley Radio Days gathered in the Rita Price Showcase Studio at Kensington Digital Media offices in Warsaw shortly after 7 p.m. to celebrate this year's grand total of $80,179.41.

Half the money goes to Riley Kids Fund for local support and the remaining portion goes to Riley Children's Foundation in Indianapolis.

In the past 12 years, the local fundraiser has collected $1.3 million.

This year marked 12 consecutive years of the fundraiser on 107.3 WRSW, led by Alan Alderfer, founder of the fundraiser whose daughter benefited from efforts at Riley Children's Hospital years ago.

The Riley Kids Fund provides gas cards and other financial assistance to families traveling to the hospital in Indianapolis.

Alderfer said he was unsure what to expect this year because of the financial strains families are continuing to feel.

"I was just hoping to hit $60,000 or $70,000 and when I heard that $80,000 number, I think that was an absolute grand slam," Alderfer said afterward.

"We don't set goals, we don't try to compete with last year, we just try to see what does the community want to raise for these families," Alderfer said.
