News Now WARSAW</span></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">FULTON COUNTY – The semi driver accused of causing a crash that killed four people earlier this week in Jay County was handed over Thursday to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Authorities say 30-year-old Bekzhan Beishekeev, who resides in Pennsylvania, swerved into the opposing lanes of traffic on SR 67 to avoid slowed traffic ahead and struck a van on Tuesday, killing four people.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to the Jay County Sheriff’s Office, Beishekeev was arrested through a bench warrant, meaning that his charges weren’t related to the crash. A bench warrant is used for individuals who fail to comply with certain court-ordered measures, usually in another county or state.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Beishekeev was then picked up by Indiana State Police on an immigration warrant on Wednesday and was turned over to federal authorities Thursday morning. Beishekeev, who is from Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia, was then taken into custody by ICE. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As of Thursday evening, he was being held in the Fulton County Jail, where ICE is holding detainees.</span></p>
<p>The US Department of Homeland Security <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2026/02/05/ice-arrests-illegal-alien-semi-truck-driver-who-killed-4-injured-others-indiana">issued a news release</a> on the case.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">DHS confirmed that Beishekeev entered the U.S. using the Biden administration’s CBP One app. He was then issued a commercial driver’s license in Pennsylvania.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Beishekeev will remain in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings, DHS said Thursday.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">DHS said the case is the latest in a “disturbing pattern” of commercial drivers who are in the country illegally, “directly threatening public safety and resulting in senseless loss of life.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In October, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem reported there were </span><a href="https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flinks-1.govdelivery.com%2FCL0%2Fhttps%3A%252F%252Flinks-1.govdelivery.com%252FCL0%252Fhttps%3A%25252F%25252Fgcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com%25252F%25253Furl%3Dhttps%2525253A%2525252F%2525252Fwww.dhs.gov%2525252Fnews%2525252F2025%2525252F10%2525252F30%2525252Fsecretary-noem-highlights-more-140-illegal-alien-truck-drivers-arrested-during%252526data%3D05%2525257C02%2525257CTyler.Wiley%25252540hq.dhs.gov%2525257C72d3b39740094f8d73aa08de64d54c5b%2525257C3ccde76c946d4a12bb7afc9d0842354a%2525257C0%2525257C0%2525257C639059064439938910%2525257CUnknown%2525257CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%2525253D%2525253D%2525257C0%2525257C%2525257C%2525257C%252526sdata%3Du%2525252By6ssY6A3G2nh37yhngipUldc6s78aqfnq%2525252BQO5xwj8%2525253D%252526reserved%3D0%252F1%252F0100019c2eb7f4fb-2a62810c-41e8-4886-b7aa-e16abcdfc578-000000%252FidEl06BpImOS_bUudkJwdMNRUOl9QKM9T3mAJPHC33k%3D443%2F1%2F0100019c2ed04ed3-d96cb70b-35bf-4618-b76a-8ad39e30a5cf-000000%2FY9HnDig8PswtrZSEP7SLGfpm4fdd2TsToZqmhhet9SA%3D443&amp;data=05%7C02%7CLydia.Reuille%40wane.com%7C5742251abc3a43fe148408de64df562b%7C9e5488e2e83844f6886cc7608242767e%7C0%7C0%7C639059107560649153%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=rSRxdNya5UenszeHTci82DPBnpZzMcmB%2FK1z8P5ZQCA%3D&amp;reserved=0"><span style="font-weight: 400;">more than 140</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> truck drivers arrested in Indiana during Operation Midway Blitz, which targeted people with illegal status.
