Traffic Commission Searching for Traffic Solution at Dunkin’

Traffic for the Dunkin' drive-thru is lighter just after 9 AM on Thursday, September 3rd. But typically, cars can be backed up along East Center Street by customers wanting coffee or donuts, causing congestion along the busy road and at times, blocks the drive for the Fire Station. Traffic backups along East Center Street at Dunkin’ Donuts were part of the discussions at Wednesday’s Traffic Safety Commission.

Commissioner Lance Grubbs said he spoke with the manager of the store to talk about updates and possible solutions to help ease the traffic troubles where cars will back up in both directions along Center Street, or cause cars to pass in the center lane when heading east.

One solution discussed was taking out the parking on the west side of the lot and adding two lanes to approach the drive thru. The example used was the double lanes used at Clearwater Car Wash, and then bringing it down to one like a zipper merge. An update is expected at the June meeting.
