Trial to begin in case of New Paris toddler’s death

ELKHART COUNTY (WNDU) – The trial is expected begin Monday for a New Paris babysitter charged in the death of a toddler.

Jackie Rolston faces a count of battery in the death of Kirk Coleman.

The 19-month-old died in October 2014.

An autopsy found the toddler died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Rolston has been previously convicted of neglect after a two-year-old in her care came home bruised.

Kirk’s family has since pushed for a change in state legislation, calling for a national registry of people convicted of child abuse and neglect.
