Trial Date Set for Alma Del Real Murder Suspect

The trial is set for later this year for the man prosecutors say confessed to the murder of Alma Del Real.

Alberto Cruz appeared in court on Monday, where the judge set the date of his murder trial for November. Despite his confession, the judge had previously entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. Del Real went missing in early April after she left a local dance bar with Cruz.

Her body was found six week later in a field near Culver Academy. Initially, Cruz told police he dropped her off at her Ewing Street home. He later admitted the two of them got into a fight and he strangled her.
