Triton High School football player killed in car crash

16-year-old Cameron Scarberry was killed in a single vehicle car crash near Atwood. The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department says it happened on 650 North near 700 West Sunday around 1 p.m.

Sheriff’s deputies say the 1994 GMC was traveling off the roadway, and an over-correction caused the vehicle to travel across the road to the other side, where it rolled over into a field. Cameron Scarberry was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scarberry was a junior at Triton High School, where he was a starter on this year’s football team. His 13-year-old brother was also in the crash and is expected to make a full recovery at a Fort Wayne Hospital.

Triton School Corporation says they will have school counselors, mental health workers from the Bowen Center, and local pastors at this school today for grieving students and staff.
