Two People Killed In Motorcycle Crashes Over The Weekend

Separate incidents in Elkhart and Goshen on Saturday claimed the lives of two people who were riding their motorcycles. Members of the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, along with family and friends, are mourning the life of 61 year-old Gerald “Jerry” Webb. He's a 37 year veteran of the department. The collision happened at the intersection of County Road 6 and Emerson Drive. Webb's passenger was taken to Memorial Hospital of South Bend with serious injuries. The two people in the car were not injured. In a separate incident, 61 year-old Dennis Darrenkammp was killed when he struck a dump truck which police say pulled into his path at the intersection of County Road 33 and County Road 40 on Saturday. Darrenkamp was ejected from his bike and suffered a fatal head wound. Police say he was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the dump truck was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
