Update: Skull Found Is Native American

A coroner says an archaeologist has determined a human skull found in a northeastern Indiana lake came from a prehistoric Native American. Steuben County Coroner Bill Harter says an analysis by University of Indianapolis forensic anthropologist Krista Latham made the determination Monday. Indiana conservation officers say a Hamilton Lake resident was getting ready to use a personal watercraft Saturday evening when he stepped on what he believed to be a stone. The man tossed the item to the shore, where his wife realized it was a skull. Divers on Sunday found other skeletal remains, but Harter says only the skull was determined to be human. The (Angola) Herald Republican reports the partial skull has been taken to the Indiana State Museum for further analysis.
