WARSAW — Warsaw has been identified as one of numerous cities across Indiana where new electric vehicle charging stations will be constructed in the next year.

The new effort is led by Go Electric Vehicle Indiana, (GOEVIN) and Drive Clean Indiana, both of which are seeking to expand EV charging infrastructure across Indiana.

GOEVIN (Go Electric Vehicle Indiana) announced the allocation of over $3.3 million to expand public EV charging infrastructure across Indiana.

This funding is part of the Volkswagen settlement and is being administered in partnership with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM).

Tuesday’s announcement says that 35 chargers will be scattered across Indiana, with six specifically located in Northeast Indiana, including Warsaw. Other cities in Northeast Indiana to receive these chargers include Fort Wayne, New Haven, Roanoke, Marion, and Elkhart.

Warsaw was also one of the cities chosen to host public meetings as part of the INDOT’s Charging the Crossroads program, which further highlights the city’s role in the state’s EV infrastructure development.

No other details, including the date or location of the Warsaw meeting, were immediately available.

The initiative focuses on deploying both Direct Current Fast Chargers (DCFC) and Level 2 charging stations strategically throughout the state.

All projects are expected to begin construction in the fall of 2025 and be completed by the end of 2026.
