Warsaw man arrested in connection to storage unit thefts

A third man was arrested in connection with  a series of storage unit thefts across Kosciusko County.

18-year-old Scotty Allen Poe of Warsaw is facing burglary, theft and forgery charges.

Between June 27 and August 4, multiple police departments responded to break-ins at different storage units.

Among the items taken was a checkbook from one of the victims, according to court records. Police traced a forged check for $280 to Poe.

Other items stolen included guns, electronic equipment, a sewing machine, speakers and DirecTV equipment. Police say Poe admitted to breaking the locks off the units and stealing items.

Police say Poe admitted to selling some of the items at pawn stores.

Poe told police he had broken into the units with Frank McGuire and another man.

McGuire has also been arrested in connection with the thefts, along with Jake Waddle.

Poe was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail and initial bond was set at $10,250.
