Warsaw Man Arrested for Firing Handgun During Dispute

A Warsaw man was charged with criminal recklessness Saturday after allegedly firing a handgun during a dispute over a drug deal.
Nicholas Strickland, 18, of 3588 E. Pierceton Road, Warsaw, was arrested on a charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $5,250 bond.
According to an affidavit provided by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Strickland was in a boat with three other subjects Saturday around 7 p.m. when he got into a heated argument with occupants of another boat nearby over a past drug deal.
Strickland then pulled his boat to a pier and entered his residence. While the other boat attempted to leave, Strickland came out with his handgun and fired, according to the affidavit.
North Webster Police officer David May responded to the report of gunshots. Strickland claimed that he fired the gun into the air while a witness claimed the bullet hit the water near the boat.
May confirmed that Strickland did have a black and silver Ruger 9mm handgun in the house, according to the affidavit.
