Warsaw Man Caught After Chase

A Warsaw man was arrested Tuesday after a police chase through Kosciusko County.
When Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. officer Dalis Owens saw a green Jeep Cherokee driving the opposite direction on a one-way street, he turned on his lights and sirens to pursue the Jeep. The Jeep, driven by Derek Fleckenstein, 37, of 1310 E. Clark St., immediately accelerated away from Owens. The vehicle made a sharp turn over a curb and continued to evade the officer, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
Owens observed Fleckenstein stop the vehicle, then quickly get out and allegedly take something out of his pocket and throw it under the Jeep.
Under the Jeep, Owens found a  syringe with hyperemic needle filled with a liquid residue, the affidavit states. Fleckenstein allegedly admitted to the officer that he threw the syringe and that he had used it to inject meth.
Fleckenstein was arrested for resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, possession of a syringe and possession of meth. He was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a $5,250 bond.
