At approximately 8:45 a.m. Saturday, officers from the Indiana State Police and the Miami County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on U.S. 24 near Miami CR 300 East, in which a Wabash woman died.

The preliminary crash investigation by Indiana State Police Trooper Todd Trottier revealed that a Warsaw man was driving a 2013 Victory motorcycle westbound on U.S. 24 near Miami CR 300 East. Evidence indicates the rear tire on the motorcycle blew, sending the motorcycle tumbling, ejecting the driver and his passenger Taylour Leigh Sparks, 25, Wabash. Neither individual was wearing a helmet, according to the ISP news release.

Sparks was pronounced dead at the scene. Lutheran Medical Helicopter flew the Warsaw man, from the crash scene, to a Fort Wayne hospital. His injuries are unknown as of the time of the release.

This is an ongoing investigation, but at this time neither the use of alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to this crash.

Trooper Trottier was assisted at the crash scene by Senior Trooper Josh Tarrh, the Miami County Sheriff’s Department, Miami County Emergency Management, and Lutheran Hospital EMS.
