Warsaw Parks hosting several family friend weekend events

Several events organized by the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department are planned for this weekend. Below are details:

Central Park Concert Series

The Central Park Concert Series at the Central Park Plaza kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday with entertainment from Kevin Purcell & The Nightburners, a blues/rock band.

The band will play until about 8:30 p.m. and spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Sponsors include Indiana Arts Commission, Kosciusko County Community Foundation, 107.3 WRSW, Willie 103.5 & News Now Warsaw.

The Central Park Plaza is at 225 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw.

Free Kids Fishing Derby

From 8 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, the Parks Department will host a free annual Kids Fishing Derby and Casting Contest. Children ages 3 to 16 can participate.

In addition to the goodie bags for the first 30 kids, there will be some prizes for winners in each age group and the Casting Contest. This event is catch and release only and participants must bring their own pole and bait.

Touch-A-Truck

The free Touch-A-Truck event is from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at  Central Park.

Touch-A-Truck is an opportunity to not only look at, but be inside and explore various types of trucks and equipment from various companies and organizations.

Some of these trucks include an ambulance, mixer truck, skid loader, backhoe, police SUV, vac truck and more. Popcorn and water will be available from Warsaw Buick GMC. Another sponsor, Hacienda, will serve chips and salsa.

Mantis Skate Park Late Skate

The Parks Department will host a late skate/pizza party from 8 to 11 p.m. at Mantis Skate Park, 400 Little League Drive. The event is free.

Pizza will be provided by Dominos of Warsaw.
