Warsaw Schools to celebrate retirement of Hauselman after 42 Years in education

WARSAW — After more than four decades of service to students, staff and families, Warsaw Community Schools is celebrating the retirement of longtime educator and leader JoElla
Hauselman.

Hauselman will retire at the conclusion of the 2025-26 school year, following 42 years in
education, including 34 years serving Warsaw Community Schools and the past 26 years as Principal of Edgewood Middle School.

Hauselman began her career in education in 1983 as a Special Education Teacher in San Angelo Independent School District in Texas before joining Warsaw Community Schools in 1987 as an Emotionally Handicapped Consultant. She later served as Assistant Principal at Edgewood Middle School before becoming a principal at Whitko Community School Corporation. In 2000, she returned to Warsaw Community Schools as Principal of Edgewood Middle School, a role she has served in ever since.

During her time leading Edgewood Middle School, Hauselman helped shape a culture centered on excellence, innovation and opportunity for students. Under her leadership, Edgewood earned STEM Certification and expanded diverse learning opportunities and student programs designed to help students grow academically, socially and personally.
Hauselman also launched and supported the district-wide “Together We Feed Them All” food initiative.

Through her leadership and collaboration, students were given meaningful opportunities to engage in service, empathy and real-world learning experiences that aligned with the mission and values of Warsaw Schools.

Throughout her career, JoElla has been known for her unwavering commitment to students, her leadership and the strong relationships she built within the school community. Generations of students, families and staff members have been impacted by her dedication to helping others succeed.

Dr. David Hoffert, Superintendent of Warsaw Community Schools, shared, “We are so thankful for the lasting impact JoElla is leaving in our schools and community. She is a lifelong educator who has always gone above and beyond for her students and staff. She is leaving an immense legacy in the thousands of students she positively impacted throughout the years. She will be missed greatly, but we also celebrate this new chapter in her life.”

Tracy Horrell, Assistant Superintendent, Warsaw Schools, added, “ JoElla led with strength, compassion and purpose throughout her time at Edgewood Middle School. Her impact on students and staff will last far beyond. Her legacy will continue beyond her retirement.”

In honor of her retirement, the community is invited to a Retirement Reception on Tuesday, May 26, from 3-5 p.m. at The Barn 1880 Historic Venue in Warsaw.

A special toast celebrating Hauselman’s remarkable legacy and lasting impact will take place at 4 p.m.

Warsaw Community Schools extends its deepest gratitude to JoElla for her years of service to education. Her influence and impact on the Edgewood Middle School community and beyond will not be forgotten.
