Warsaw’s November First Friday theme is “Thanks for Giving”

November is widely considered to be a time for giving thanks and giving back to the community.

In keeping with that tradition, “Thanks for Giving” is the theme for First Friday, from 5 to 9 p.m. in downtown Warsaw.

The centerpiece of the event is a quad-axle dump truck from G&G Excavating that is to be filled with items to help those less fortunate. The public is asked to fill the bed of the truck with nonperishable food items, baby food and formula, winter wear, blankets, sheets, maternity clothes, laundry soap and fabric softner, dish soap, cleaning supplies, toiletries and other appropriate items. The truck will be parked at the intersection of Center and Buffalo streets.

But what would First Friday be without some family friendly fun? At 6:30 and 8 p.m., there will be an excavator car-crushing demonstration.

Other activities throughout the evening include an equipment rodeo for those 18 years and older to try out heavy equipment operating skills. There will be kindness/pet rock painting, a sandbox coin hunt, a scavenger hunt and more. Visit the G&G information tent on the southeast corner of the courthouse for a map, list of activities and scavenger hunt details or to make a cash donation.

The First Friday event also is sponsored by Irving Materials Inc., Wildman Uniform and Linen, Monteith’s Best One Tire, Ceres Solutions, Lewis Salvage and MacAllister Rentals.

First Friday is supported by the Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation, the city of Warsaw and Warsaw Community Development Corp.
