A West Noble High School student is being recognized for his life-saving actions.

Titus Allard helped save a choking classmate during lunch on March 11 by performing the Heimlich maneuver.  Now the American Red Cross is awarding him the Certificate of Extraordinary Action, which is given to individuals who step up in an emergency and help save or sustain a life.

The Executive Director for the organization’s Northeast Indiana chapter says Allard’s actions exemplify the mission of the Red Cross to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies.

“If Allard did not act so quickly, the outcome of this situation could have been significantly worse,” said Katherine MacAulay.

He is being commended for his willingness to help others in distress.
