Wife Of State Senator Announces Her Run To Fill Her Husband’s Vacancy

Amanda Banks, wife of State Senator Jim Banks of Columbia City, has announced her run to fill her husband's vacancy. Amanda Banks will be up for election by the 17th Senate District precinct committeemen, who will choose a temporary replacement for Jim Banks in a caucus after the general election. This, after Senator Banks announced this month he will deploy to Afghanistan to serve in the U.S. Navy Reserve during the 2015 legislative session. He's expected to leave September and return in May of next year. He is unopposed in the election and will stay on the ballot in November.
