A Winona Lake Police officer was slightly injured in a 2 vehicle accident last night. According to the sheriff’s department, Officer Joe Bumbaugh was merging onto US 30 from Center Street around 8:15pm when he slowed because of a traffic back-up in front of him. His vehicle was hit from behind by 27-year old Mariah Young of Warsaw, who told investigators she was looking left to prepare to merge onto the highway and didn’t see traffic slowing in front of her. Bumbaugh was taken to KCH with neck pain, and his K-9 partner was taken to Lake City Animal Clinic for medical attention. Young and her passenger were not injured.
