Woody Seeking Change of Venue for Trial

A change of venue hearing for a murder suspect was waived Monday in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
The defense does not believe that Warsaw can provide an unbiased trial.
Brandon Woody, 22, Syracuse, is charged with two counts of murder. His attorney, Scott Lennox, has filed for a change of venue regarding the murder trial.
In lieu of a change of venue hearing, the defense has been granted the opportunity to present a brief to Judge Michael W. Reed by July 16. This brief would aim to explain in writing why Woody would not receive a fair trial in Warsaw, Lennox said.
The case is currently set for pretrial  Aug. 3, with trial to take place within the week. The location may change depending on the change of venue brief.
Joining Woody in the murder charges is Kyle Dehart, 22, and Thomas Hursey, 27. Dehart’s case has been separated from Woody’s and holds different court dates.
Woody, Dehart and Hursey are being charged for the murders of Joshua Knisley, 19, and Tara Thornburg, 23, both of Syracuse, on Feb. 19. At least two others have been charged in connection to the murders and investigations are still taking place.
