WWII, Navy vet Harris recognized as July Veteran of the Month

World War II and Navy veteran Joe Lyle Harris was recognized as the Kosciusko County Veteran of the Month for July.

Harris was honored with a plaque by the Kosciusko County Commissioners during their meeting on Tuesday, joined by his wife Joan of 74 years. County Veterans Affairs Officer Rich Maron read off a biography about Harris during the meeting, talking about his time in the Navy during the war from the start of his service in 1944 up until the declaration of the end of the war in 1945.

Harris was also a teacher and golf coach at Warsaw Community High School for 24 years. You can watch the presentation and story of Harris in its entirely below:
