Over $1 Million Awarded To Local Areas To Help Enhance Lakes & Rivers

Nearly $1.3 million dollars is being awarded by the Indiana DNR to local areas to help enhance local lakes and rivers. The money comes form a fee paid annually by boat owners, and will be used on many projects. The local projects in Kosciusko County include $40,000 for dam removal on the Tippecanoe River, $20,000 for design for channel erosion control on Turkey Creek, $45,000 for watershed land treatment on the upper Tippecanoe River and $41,000 for bank stabilization on Kline Island on Webster Lake. The grants, awarded by DNR director Cameron Clark, fund 33 projects in 25 counties, encompassing watersheds of 36 lakes and streams.
