Nearly two dozen dead after terror attack in Brussels

BRUSSELS, Belgium: At least 23 are dead, according to Sky News, after a series of explosions rocked the Brussels airport and subway system this morning.

According to Fox News, the country’s interior minister has raised the terror threat level to maximum, and authorities have confirmed they believe the incident is a terror attack.

Many injuries are reported. A passenger just arriving at the airport described the scene as “blood everywhere, injured people, bags everywhere.”

European security officials have been braced for a major attack for weeks, and warned that Islamic State, otherwise known as ISIS, was actively preparing since a key suspect in last November’s Paris terror attack was apprehended in Brussels.

Reuters reports that shortly before the explosions witnesses heard shots being fired and someone shouting in Arabic.
