17 Year Old Charged As Adult For Jumping Off Roof Of Detention Facility

A 17-year-old boy accused of jumping off the roof of the juvenile detention facility in an attempt to escape will be charged as an adult. It was late last month when police responded to a jail break at the juvenile detention center in Goshen. According to court documents, Tony Yowell and another 17-year-old climbed a 25-foot wall in the rec area of the detention center. After jumping off the roof, the teens headed toward the area Pike and Third streets. During a hearing last week, the prosecuting attorney called Yowell “beyond rehabilitation in the juvenile justice system.” Yowell already has a long rap sheet, including incidents of theft, intimidation, burglary, fraud and being a runaway.
