News Release
LAKE WAWASSEE — The Wawasee Property Owners Association (WPOA) today announced Wawasee250, a summer-long community celebration designed to unite the Lake Wawasee area around pride, gratitude, education, and anticipation as the nation approaches America’s 250th birthday on July 4.
As part of the kickoff of Wawasee250, every WPOA Member and WPOA Community Member (non-lake resident member) will receive a commemorative Wawasee250 flag, a 2′ x 3′ flag intended for display along piers and shorelines, delivered alongside the 2026 WPOA directory. The shared lake-wide display is designed to create a visible sense of unity and momentum across the community throughout 2026.
Wawasee250 will build into the summer, and programming will bring neighbors together for an education and community-focused experience, recognizing WPOA members and the many donors who make WPOA programming possible, and showcasing behind-the-scenes access to one of the lake’s most cherished traditions – Lake Wawasee Fireworks.
“Wawasee250 is our chance to rally the entire lake community around a once-in-a-generation year, and we’re just getting started,” said Chris Campbell, Wawasee250 Festival Lead & WPOA Fireworks Chair. “The flag is the first signal that something big is coming. And yes, we’re planning a fireworks experience that will feel truly historic for Lake Wawasee.”
“WPOA has always been about protecting what makes this lake special and strengthening the community around it,” said Kay Young, President of WPOA. “Wawasee250 is a celebration of our shared pride in Lake Wawasee, and a thank you to every member household and community member who supports our mission. We can’t wait for everyone to fly the flag and be part of what’s ahead.”
To receive the Wawasee250 commemorative flag, all current and new members must pay their dues by March 1, 2026.
WPOA encourages residents, members, and supporters to visit wawaseeassociation.org to explore Wawasee250 merchandise, take advantage of member discounts and exclusive limited-edition items, and stay updated on announcements and milestones as plans unfold throughout 2026.
