WARSAW — Protests in Warsaw and South Bend are scheduled for today by the Northern Indiana chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, calling for action against President Trump’s immigration crackdown.

The anti-ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) demonstrations will be at 3 p.m. outside the Warsaw Community Public Library and at 4 p.m. at Jon Hunt Memorial Plaza, outside the Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend.

The rallies will include chants and short speeches from local Democratic Socialists of America organizers, according to a news release by the organization.

While the Democratic Party generally supports market-based capitalist economic policies, the Democratic Socialists of America seeks to replace capitalism with a system of social ownership and democratic control of the economy.

DSA scored a major victory in November 2025 with the election of Zohran Mamdani as Mayor of New York City.

National Demands include defunding and abolishing ICE and prosecuting the killers of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, both of whom died in recent protests in Minneapolis at the hands of ICE agents.

Northern Indiana DSA is demanding:

  • No compliance from local government, local law enforcement, schools, churches or businesses in assisting ICE or DHS in their “mass deportation terror campaign.”
  • The end of the use of flock cameras on local streets to surveil motorists.
  • The end of support for candidates in the upcoming midterms unless they publicly commit to defunding, abolishing ICE, and the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
