Five injured in Wawasee bus crash involving pickup truck north of Warsaw

WARSAW — Five people, including three juveniles, were injured when a pickup truck collided with a Wawasee Community Schools bus near James Lake on Monday afternoon.

The Times-Union reports the accident happened on County Road 500 North and County Road 750 East shortly after 3 p.m. 

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office reports a pickup truck was westbound on 500 North when it crossed the centerline, hitting the eastbound bus.

The driver of the pickup, 64-year-old Steven Kingsley of Huntertown, was airlifted from the scene to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of his injuries. 

The bus driver, 63-year-old Cheryl Bartman, of Syracuse, was treated for injuries at the scene.

Three juvenile passengers on the bus were transported to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
