“The proclamation is right on base,” she said Monday. “It’s important to let people know what dyslexia is. One in five people are affected by it, and it’s not just about reading things backwards.”
“Hoosiers will benefit from increased awareness of the nature of dyslexia, knowing the early warning signs of dyslexia and understanding the value of proven, evidence-based, multi-sensory, structured language interventions for students with dyslexia,” the proclamation states, “and greater recognition and understanding are necessary to ensure individuals with dyslexia are accurately identified and provided with appropriate services so that they might lead maximally productive lives.”
