Stabbing Suspect Sentenced

“Aggravating circumstances” were cited Thursday in court, as a life sentence is now being sought for a man charged in the murder of a young Granger woman last year. Thursday morning, the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office filed a life without parole enhancement against 26 year-old Michael Shoun. Shoun is accused in the stabbing of 17-year-old Tiana Alter last November. Shoun was arrested in November on unrelated charges. One of the enhancements was related to the degree of violence involved in the woman's death. His trial had been secheduled for October 6th, however his attorney has requested additional time to build a defense against the enhancement.
