Alan Hoover, Historic Flights Foundation events organizer, told the Board of Aviation Commissioners Tuesday evening he hopes this weekend’s air show brings over 4,000 cars.
Hoover said with bigger and better airplanes this year, he anticipates the show being much bigger than last year.
The show begins at 3 p.m. Friday and ends at 6 p.m. Saturday, with a rain date on Sunday. Admission is free, though the event asks for a $5 donation for parking.
All proceeds from food vendor Nelson’s Chicken and BBQ benefit veteran’s group Hoosiers Helping Heroes and air show shirt and hat sales benefit Housing Opportunities of Warsaw.

In other business, the board approved a bid totaling over $24,000 to perform maintanence on the airport’s jet fuel truck. Over $8,000 of that bid would be to repaint and repair rust on the truck, though the board suggested performing maintenance first, then reevaluating the money needed to repaint the truck after the maintenance is performed.
The board also discussed the possibility of purchasing a new aviation fuel truck instead of spending additional money to repair the current truck. The issue was tabled until next month’s meeting. Airport Manager Nick King told the board the inspection and cleaning of at least one fuel tank had been completed and the results of the inspection were positive. Two more fuel tanks are also scheduled to be inspected and cleaned.
King also told the board he plans to bring a revised draft of the airport’s land lease to their attention by early next week in an effort to update the lease and current policies.
The next BOAC meeting is scheduled for Sept. 9 at 5:15 p.m.
