Three local non-profit organizations – Joe’s Kids, The Baker Youth Club (BYC) and Court Appointed Special Advocate of Kosciusko County (CASA) – have decided to cancel “An Evening with Elizabeth Smart” scheduled for Nov. 3.
According to a news release provided, “We take the health and safety of our community very seriously and after reviewing various virtual and in-person options to continue with this event, we feel this is the best course of action.”
Rebecca Bazzoni, executive director of Joe’s Kids, said, “This was not an easy decision to make, but one that was made with the health and safety of our guests and community in mind. We greatly appreciate the K21 Health Foundation and the Kosciusko County Community Foundation who have supported our efforts.”
For those that had pre-purchased a copy of Elizabeth’s book, the purchase price will be refunded. The organizations will revisit inviting Elizabeth Smart to the community in the future.
