Area schools receive grant to help support school safety

Area school districts were recipients of a state grant marked for school safety. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon regarding the split of $19.4 million from the Indiana Secured School Safety Grant.

The grant supports efforts such as employing a school resource officer, conduct threat assessments, support firearms training and others. Since 2013, the grant program has delivered more than $91 million in matching grants to Indiana schools. You can see the full list of grants across the state here.

Kosciusko County

Warsaw Community Schools – $100,000
Tippecanoe Valley Schools – $100,000
Wawasee Community Schools – $75,000
Sacred Heart School – $18,876.80

Marshall County

Argos Community Schools – $40,000
Bremen Schools – $26,435
Triton Schools – $18,900

Whitley County

Whitley County Consolidated Schools – $95,323.55
Whitko Schools – $50,000
Smith-Green Schools – $35,000

Elkhart County

Wa-Nee Schools – $100,000
Goshen Schools – $50,000
Fairfield Schools – $47,700

Wabash County

Manchester Schools – $23,280
