An argument allegedly turned physical and landed a man in jail for strangulation charges.

Karl Matthew Luu, 31, of 1672 S. Country Club Road, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:08 a.m. March 25 and faces charges for domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a Level 6 felony; strangulation, a Level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Monday in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on March 25 Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home where they found a woman hiding in a bedroom due to an altercation with Luu the night before.

According to court papers, the woman said she got into a verbal argument with Luu about language he used to describe the mother of his children during a video call with the children.

The woman later went to bed and was woke up by Luu, who wanted to continue the argument, according to court papers.

The woman refused, and according to the affidavit, Luu pulled the woman off the bed, then put his hands around her neck pushing down with such weight that she couldn’t breathe.

Police reported observing red marks around the left side of the woman’s neck that was consistent with being strangled, according to court papers.

According to court records, Luu was convicted of strangulation in Allen County in 2016.

A no-contact order was put in place and his bond was set at $6,000.
