Ashley Furniture recalling floor lamps due to burn hazards

Ashley Furniture is voluntarily recalling about 900 floor lamps due to burn hazards.

The lamps were labeled incorrectly, stating consumers can use 40-watt light bulbs. However, the sockets are only designed to support 25-watt light bulbs. If higher-watt bulbs are used, it can result in the power switch melting, thus posing a burn hazard.

The recall involves Signature Design by Ashley Amnon floor lamps with a floor switch and 12 light bulb sockets. The lamps are metal with a bronze finish and measure about 64 inches tall.

The model number L207971 is printed on a label on the underside of the lamp’s base.

The products were sold at Ashley Furniture Home stores, independently owned and operated furniture stores, and online at Amazon.com, AshleyFurniture.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com, and other websites, from February 2017 through April 2018.

The products sold for approximately $160-$300.

So far, Ashley Furniture has received seven incident reports, including six reports in the United States, of the floor lamp’s power switch melting. Four of those reports resulted in minor property damage.

If you own this product, stop using it immediately and unplug the lamp. Contact Ashley Furniture for instructions on how to receive a full refund. Ashley Furniture is also contacting all known purchases directly.
